About Artecke

Where centuries-old Arabic craftsmanship meets contemporary design, creating pieces that honour tradition while embracing the present.

Our Story

Bridging Heritage and Modernity

Artecke was born from a deep appreciation for the intricate beauty of Arabic decorative arts. From the geometric precision of Islamic tilework to the flowing elegance of Arabic calligraphy, these art forms have captivated the world for centuries.

We founded Artecke with a clear mission: to make authentic, handcrafted Arabic-inspired pieces accessible to design-conscious homes worldwide. Every item in our collection is carefully sourced from skilled artisans across the Arab world, ensuring that traditional techniques are preserved while meeting modern standards of quality and design.

Our name, Artecke, is a fusion of "Art" and "Decke" (the German word for cover or blanket), reflecting our belief that art should envelop and transform every living space.

What We Stand For

Our Values

Authenticity

Every piece we offer is genuinely handcrafted using traditional techniques passed down through generations. We work directly with artisans to ensure cultural integrity in every creation.

Craftsmanship

We celebrate the human touch. Each item carries the unique marks of its maker, from hand-painted ceramics to hand-carved woodwork. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Sustainability

We prioritize natural materials and eco-conscious production methods. By supporting traditional crafts, we help sustain communities and reduce the environmental impact of mass production.

Our artisan partners

The People Behind the Craft

Our Artisans

We partner with over 50 artisan families across Morocco, Turkey, and Egypt. These skilled craftspeople are the heart of Artecke, bringing decades of expertise and cultural knowledge to every piece they create.

In Fez, our potters shape clay using techniques unchanged for over 800 years. In Istanbul, our metalworkers hand-engrave intricate patterns on copper and brass. In Cairo, our woodcarvers create mashrabiya screens with mathematical precision that rivals any modern computer.

We believe in fair trade practices and ensure every artisan receives equitable compensation. By purchasing from Artecke, you are directly supporting these communities and helping preserve irreplaceable cultural traditions for future generations.
